You can see if a move has a chance to inflict an ailment if there is a small symbol next to the move button, as seen below: There’s also a slightly rarer one that switches movement controls (directing your character right will make them go left etc), and one that slows movement. Certain types of attacks can be less effective on certain enemies, as shown by the word ‘Guard’ and the text being a certain colour when attacking (red meaning a guard against melee attacks and blue for ranged).Ĭertain characters or enemies have higher chances of inflicting certain Ailments, (those being Freeze, Stun, Burn, Poision and Weakening) Freeze and Stun prevent the target from moving, Burn and Poision deal a continuous amount of damage for a set amount of time, while weakening lowers the defense and attack of the target. One character can have a mix of these, and some even have moves that grant invincibility for a certain amount of hits.
There are different types of attacks, including ranged, melee, and healing.
